Livestock

Since 1831, Livestock has been a key part of the Huntingdon County Fair's history! The Huntingdon County Fair is a function of the Huntingdon County Agricultural Association, Inc. and their primary function is to offer a place and means for local farmers, youth and residents to showcase, preserve, educate and exhibit the rural, agricultural traditions as well as new technologies, even the arts, crafts and cooking, related to the number one industry in our county, agriculture, especially dairy. The primary goal is to support, educate and reward the youth of our community and encourage them to never lose sight of the relationship and importance of agriculture to all walks of life. The Huntingdon County Fair's Jr. Livestock Committee plays a key role in our operation.

The Huntingdon County Fair is one of the largest county based, agricultural livestock exhibits in the state of Pennsylvania, next to the PA State Farm Show. During fair week there are daily events, over 1,300 livestock entries and over 1,140 agricultural and craft entries. Our youth livestock sale brings in about $125,000. With our many barns, show arenas, halls and pens all full, there is ample opportunity for a hands-on experience with all kinds of livestock from horses, beef and dairy cows and sheep to goats, hogs and rabbits. And don't miss the miniature horses, ponies and more unusual animals that often show up for fair week!

Livestock and horse shows, even rodeos, take place, not only fair week, but throughout the season. 4-H, FFA and Scout activities are often scheduled at the fairgrounds. The buildings, grounds, stages, grandstands, arenas and wash racks are all available for organizations to use. Arrangements may be made through the Huntingdon County Fair Board members.
